Sue TURNER reported that the last papers of the Gross Symposium in 1993 have been published in Modern Geology vol. 24. Papers have appeared in three different volumes of that journal.
Michal GINTER reported that most of the papers from the IGCP 406 symposium held in Warsaw in 1998 are published in volume 2 of Acta Geologica Polonica. Two additional papers are to be published in volume 3. Sally YOUNG and Sue TURNER reported that the Special Reportof the Geological Society is progressing. The report deals with Palaeozoic micro-remains of vertebrates from UK. Most of the text for the acanthodians and placoderms, thelodonts and some sharks is done. Work needs to be done on the remaining main groups of fishes. Sue TURNER reported that Ichthyolith Issuesfor 1999 is not yet produced. A copy may go on the web site in advance of printing.
Tiiu MARSS commented that Silurian Timesis on the internet.

2. FUTURE MEETINGS
Early Vertebrates-Lower Vertebrates meeting, 15-19 May 2000 to be held in Flagstaff, Arizona, USA. Two field excursions are planned: A pre-meeting field excursion to the Ordovician of Colorado, and a post-meeting to the Devonian of Nevada and Utah. The meeting is to be organised by Dave Elliott.
A final project meeting of IGCP 406 is planned for Syktyvkar, Russia and is being organised by Anna Antoshkina and Natasha Belyaeva. Two field excursions are planned, a pre-meeting and a post-meeting excursion. It will be possible to collect fossils and take them home for study.
The pre-conference excursion is planned for 7-11 July 2000 to the Upper Devonian deposits of South Timan. (There would be space for 30 or 40 people). The cost of the first field excursion is estimated to be 500 dollars. During the first excursion participants would live in tents and in a hotel. Natasha Belyaeva described the reef formations of the Upper Devonian in the first excursion. The excursion would include a visit to Yariga Oil Mine, and to the basins associated with the reefs. Fish fossils are plentiful and are of many types. The visit may be changed according to the interests of the participants.
The conference is planned for 12-15 July 2000. Meeting costs are estimated to be: Registration: 50 dollars. Hotel: between 30 and 130 dollars per night.
The post-conference field excursion is planned for 16-26 July to the Ordovician to Lower Permian sediments of the Polar Urals. (There would be space for 20 people). The cost of the second field excursion is estimated to be 1000 dollars. During the second excursion participants would live in tents. Sergey Melnikov described the second field excursion of N.E Russian platform, to the Ordovician and Silurian deposits, west of the Urals. They plan to visit Ukhta, and the most interesting fish outcrops in the Ukhta region.
3. FINANCES:
Mark WILSON reported that a financial report is submitted each year, to IUGS and IGCP. A little money is given each year and is used to cover small administrative expenses such as banking costs, but most of the money is used for subsidies for people to attend meetings. It cannot be used to pay for publications. This year about 10,000 dollars was given, and more than 20 people were subsidized this year for expenses such as transportation costs (air tickets, rail fares), and subsistence during the meeting.
A good report is needed this year to make a strong case for funding for next year.

4. WORKING GROUPS
Peep MANNICK's new working group involves mainly correlations. So far there has not been a great deal of scientific interest in this working group from the west. The project is still open to new participants.

5. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mark WILSON said that next year (2000) is the last year for the project IGCP 406. If anyone wishes to organise a new successor project the forms should be completed by the meeting next year in Syktyvkar, Russia, in July 2000. Sue TURNERs has been nominated to be on the IGCP committee.
Sue TURNER said that there was a plan to start a project involving the Palaeozoic/Mesozoic boundary and marine/non-marine correlations. Potential leaders for this project are required, and offers for this post would be welcome.
