Annual reports by the Project leaders for IGCP 406 are due for presentation to UNESCO and IUGS. A brief statement is needed ofresearch progress of the working groups and national groups of the project. Final date for the report is 15/10/99.
Individual reports by national representatives were requested and should include a few sentences of national progress of IGCP 406. They should be sent by email to Mark Wilson.
A list of publications directly related to IGCP 406 should be sent to Mark. It should include papers published in the last year or in press but not in preparation, and should include books, articles, abstracts. If publications should appear before January 2000 the details should be sent to Mark Wilson for the complete list for the Paris report in January.
Last year the report was considered very good with many publications, plans for collaboration etc. Progress on major publications should be indicated.
A FEW COMMENTS were made by PARTICIPANTS:
Michal GINTER mentioned that he was working alone for a long time; however, recently a few students are becoming interested in the project.
Per AHLBERG mentioned that in relation to publications, abstracts were published for his meeting in April: Major Events in Early Vertebrate Evolution: Palaeontology, Phylogeny and Development, a joint Systematics Association/Natural History Museum meeting 8-9 April 1999. A symposium volume for the meeting is to be published, and is in progress.
Daniel GOUJET mentioned a large publication which is planned for Geodiversitasin 2000. At present it is in preparation; it was delayed slightly due to difficulties with different languages. He hopes to receive the last of the definitive manuscripts by December 1999.
Alain BLIECK reported on the final report of IGCP 328 which is to be published imminently as a Cour. Forsch. Senck.Volume, Frankfurt. Publication is expected in late 1999 or earliest 2000. It has 25 papers, 50 authors, 600 pages, plates, figures. Every author is to have a copy of his/her own, but there will be no free reprints. Peep MANNIK reported that five papers will be in the Estonian Academy of Sciences Proceedings, to be published before July 2000.
