Diphyllobothrium plerocercoid

The plerocercoid of Diphyllobothrium exhibits segmentation, but the reproductive organs have not yet developed. The bothria on the scolex, located on the top of the photo, are clearly visible. Even though the plerocercoid lives in a cyst or in the flesh of an intermediate host, the scolex has already developed so that the parasite can attach to the intestine of the definitive host once it is eaten.
