General Information

The 45th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Society of Zoologists will be held at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta from 2-6 May 2006.

Edmonton is easily accessible by air from most parts of Canada via flights into the Edmonton International Airport and from some regional locations via flights into the Edmonton City Centre Airport. A Sky Shuttle is available to take travelers arriving at the Edmonton International Airport to campus and major hotels in the city. Taxis and car rental facilities can also be found at the International Airport. Delegates driving to Edmonton can access the city from an east-west orientation by the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16) or by the Queen Elizabeth Highway (QEII, Highway 2) if approaching from a north-south orientation. Road signs to the university campus (indicated by "U") are posted along major access routes. Travelers arriving by Greyhound and VIA Rail can easily get to the University of Alberta by taxi. (City Map)

The University of Alberta is located in the south central part of the city along the North Saskatchewan River. A numbered road-naming system is commonly used in the city core and around the university area with "avenues" running east to west and "streets" running north to south.

All of the scientific events will be held at the Lister Centre, University of Alberta except for the Fry Lecture and the ZET Lecture. Lister Centre is located on the south side of the intersection of 116th Street and 87th Avenue (map). A suite of four adjacent meeting rooms located on the upper level of the Lister Centre will be the main site for oral sessions including all symposia and plenary presentations. The David Tuckey Gymnasium on the ground floor of Lister Centre will house the poster session, other displays and coffee breaks.
