meeting. The Flagstaff meeting will nicely complement the Syktyvkar meeting, because the Flagstaff meeting will have a greater emphasis on palaeo-biology, and will be restricted to vertebrates and their close relatives.

3. John Talent, President of the International Palaeontological Association, proporses to organize an International Palaeontological Congress, which could be held every four years, and which could alternate with the Geological Congress. It would be a large international meeting and field trip, requiring partipation and organization by numerous scientists at different institutions. IGCP 406 members endorsed this proposal at our annual meeting in Warsaw this year. The first IPC could be held in Australia in 2002 and thereafter every four years.
