Aspidogaster

This lateral view shows the mouth of the parasite at the top, followed by a spherical pharynx and a long, red-stained intestine. The ventral sucker, on the left in the photo, is prominent, with the small ridges along its bottom margin indicating where the multiple loculi that compose it are situated. The coiled structure that loops over the top of the intestine, behind it, and then underneath it is the uterus. The dark granules located over the intestine are vitelline follicles. the dark mass located at the anterior junction between main body and ventral sucker is the cirrus pouch of the male reproductive system.
