Trichuris female

This female has the characteristic body shape of a whipworm. The total body length is about 3-4 cm. The long, slender stichosome at the anterior end contains the esophagus and the stichocytes which surround it. The short, thick hind body contains the reproductive tract. The inset shows the region around the vulva. The egg-filled uterus can be seen winding its way anteriorly (left in photo) but the vulva is not visible.
