Research Interest:
She is interested in the ecology of arctic and alpine fungi, specifically, the fungi associated with postglacial mosses and vascular plants. Her research focuses on five main questions:
- What fungi are associated with the mosses that form an organic grout around the rocks in the glacial flood plain?
- What degradative abilities do these fungi have and how do these abilities contribute to soil formation after glacial recession?
- How similar are the moss associated and root associated fungal communities?
- What fungi are present in the roots of Dryas drummondii, a primary vascular plant coloniser in the postglacial ecosystem?
- How similar are the root associated fungal communities in the arctic and the alpine?
