This facility consists of 113 propagation rooms, freezers, incubators and growth chambers with a temperature range of -30° to +45° C. The majority of these units are computerized with physical parameters controlled, or modified at 1 hour intervals, to provide cycles of daily and seasonal change. A number of Biotron chambers have facilities available for control of carbon dioxide, hydroponic growth of plants, animal hibernation, and low relative humidity studies.
