The University of Alberta Biogeochemical Analytical Service Laboratory (BASL) was established in the 1980s as a premier global research, teaching and service facility. We provide cost-effective chemical analytical services in environmental, ecological and medical disciplines for University researchers, government agencies and private sectors around the world.

The BASL holds a proficiency laboratory status with CALA, an accreditation body in Canada for ISO 17025. The lab has the capability to provide inorganic, organic, low level mercury, and stable isotope ratio analytical services. Our lab is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation located in a 550 square meter facility within the Centennial Centre for Interdisciplinary Science (CCIS).
