This short contribution presents to the participants of the conference on « Major events in early vertebrate evolution : palaeontology, phylogeny and development » (NHM, London, 8-9 April 1999), the general frame of results which have been obtained during the 6 years if IGCP 328 : Palaeozoic Microvertebrate Biochronology and Global Marine/Non-Marine Correlation(1991-1996).

These results will be fully published in a special issue of Courier Forschungs-Institut

Senckenberg(Frankfurt am Main, FRG) before the end of 1999. The volume will comprise

ca. 500 pages, 140 text-figs., 29 tables, 37 black-and-white photographic plates, 50 authors,

25 papers.

Readers will find here below : 1) the list of papers which have been presented to the volume ; 2) a copy of the introductory paper of this volume, where we explain the main aims of the project as well as its general scientific results ; 3) a list of the author and collective volumes published during the course of the project.

Any interested reader may make contact with one or another of the co-editors of the volume whose publication will be advertised in the following months ; or with the editor of CFS : Dr. P.
