Symposium on Fish Paleontology

August 24-30, 1997
Trieste, Italy

A special symposium will be organized during the NINTH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF EUROPEAN ICHTHYOLOGISTS (CEI 9). The congress theme is Fish Biodiversity and papers that focus on dominant fish components and the areas/periods of highest fish diversity (as well as major extinctions) are particularly encouraged. Nevertheless, papers on morphology, ecology, phylogeny or systematics are also welcome, especially if they include both extant as well as fossil material.

Trieste is a mid-size, quiet town at the easternmost corner of Italy. Weather is still nice at the end of August, and the hottest period of the year is usually over. Trieste and the Friuli region are very famous for their cultural centers, historic buildings and, last but not least, for their wines and various traditional dishes. The congress will be held in an ex-maritime station, surrounded by the sea. It is fully air conditioned and close to the center of town. There is a good choice of accommodations for every budget. A student house, for example, is available for young colleagues and other people who require cheap accommodation.

Organizers of the paleontology symposium are Tyson Roberts, Capital Mansion, 1371 Phaholyotin road, Sapankhwani, Bangkok, Thailand, and Norbert Micklich, Darmstadt, Germany (see below). For further information, Call for Papers, & Pre-registration forms (deadline 15 July, 1996!) please contact:
