Boating Safety Course
A CANADIAN COAST GUARD ACCREDITED PROGRAM

The Course:
This is an 8h course that is intended to satisfy the basic requirements
for most inland boat operators and is usually conducted over three
evenings (about 3h /class). It is taught by volunteer members
of the Edmonton Power & Sail Squadron who have trained over
2000 boaters in the Edmonton area. On passing the test, you will
receive a Canadian Coast Guard Operator Proficeincy Card that
is valid for life. There is a more extensive course (30h) for
those who boat in coastal waters or on large charted inland lakes.

once a month in Sept, Oct, Nov and Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr and May.
Where:
local highschool.
Costs:

Option 1: $50.00
includes manual, instruction and exam. Discounts available for
groups of 10 or more students from the same family, group or company.
Exam rewrites cost $20.00
Option 2: $35.00
self study + exam. includes a manual for self study and a written
supervised exam. Individiual exams and rewrites are $20.00.
Option 3: $20.00
exam only. This option is recomended only for very experienced
boaters with knowledge of the Canadian Aids to navigation system.
Group Rates - 1 day course; 0800-1700h:
for groups of 10 or more within 50 km of Edmonton, the rate is
$40 per student. For locations >50km from Edmonton, the rate
is $50 per student. Confirm number of students 1 week prior to
the course.
