Course Requirements (2012/13)

Students who entered the Molecular Genetics Honors or Specialization Program in the 2012-2013 Calendar year should follow the program presented below. If you have any questions about your program requirements, please see your advisor or Student Services, CW-312 BSB.

All students in Honors and Specialization programs in Biological Sciences take a common core of courses in their first year which includes Biology 107 and 108 (see Sidebar for description of the First Year Core, also see individual programs for requirements and recommendations) . In addition, all Honors and Specialization students take Biology 207 and 208 in Year 2.

This page contains a summary of information contained in the calendar. In case of discrepancy, the calendar is the final authority.

Notes:

  1. Although BIOL 207 is recommended in Year 1, alternatively, BIOL 201 (or CELL 201) may be taken in Year 1.  BIOL 207 must be completed before Winter term of Year 2.
  2. GENET 270 must be taken during Year 2 to permit completion of the program in four years.
  3. Honors students are required to take BIOL 499 and reduce approved options by *6.
  4. More than *12 total may be chosen from List A and List B, and the extra credits may be used toward *12 from List C or toward *12 in approved options or both.
  5. Credit in Science 100 will be considered equivalent to BIOL 107, 108, CHEM 101, 102, 164, MATH 114, *3 Science options and *6 Approved options.
