The Parasitology Section held its annual meeting at in conjunction with
the annual meeting of the Canadian Society of Zoologists at the University
of Western Ontario in London, 14-17 May 1997. Dr. Ron Podesta and Mike
Belosevic organized a symposium, "Biology of Intracellular
Parasitism."
- Dr. John Barta, Ontario Veterinary College. Living in the vertebrate
gut: host-parasite interactions during coccidial infection.
- Dr. Alan Sher, National Institutes of Health. Initiation and
regulation of cell-mediated immunity in Toxoplasma gondii
infections.
- Dr. Greg Matlashewski, Institute of Parasitology. Identification of
virulence genes in Leishmania donovani.
- Dr. Martin Olivier, Université Laval. Modulation of macrophage
signal transduction pathways by he protozoan parasite, Leishmania
sp.
