The Parasitology Section met May 17-21, 2010 in conjunction with the
annual meeting of the Canadian Society of Zoologists at the University of British Columbia. The theme of the Parasitology Section
Symposium, organized by Mike Duffy and Carl Lowenberger, was "Molecular approaches to parasitology". The speakers were:
- Tony James (University of California at Irvine): "The generation and use of transgenic insects to reduce parasite transmission:
viable alternative to existing strategies? /
- Lee Haines (University of Victoria): "Tsetse EP Protein: A novel immunoresponsive molecule that influences tsetse vector competence. /
- Guy Palmer (Washington State University): "Superinfection and transmission fitness as drivers of genome plasticity in pathogens. /
