The Parasitology Section met May 12-16, 2009 in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Canadian Society of Zoologists at the University of Toronto-Scarborough, Toronto, Ontario. The theme of the Parasitology Section Symposium, held jointly with the EEE Section and organized by Al Shostak and Joe Rasmussen, was "Frontiers in the Evolution of Symbotic Relationships".

The speakers were:

• Conrad Labandeira (Smithsonian Institution): "Plants and insects from the late paleozoic forests to the advent of angiosperms: how were they associating?"
• Bernard D. Roitberg (Simon Fraser): "Parasitoid-host symbiosis: a co-evolutionary gold mine."
• Steve Yanoviak (University of Arkansas at Little Rock): "'Berry' ants: an eye-catching symbiosis in the tropical forest canopy."
