The Parasitology Section met May 19-23, 2008 in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Canadian Society of Zoologists at Mount St. Vincent University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. The theme of the Parasitology Section Symposium, organized by Todd Smith, was "Diversity of parasite research in Atlantic Canada."

The speakers were:

• Dave Schutler (Acadia): "Of birds and bees (and their parasites)"
• Mick Burt (UNB): "Forty year's worth of "Down-East" parasitology and parasitologists"
• David Cone (St Mary's): "Descriptive fish parasitology at SMU"
