2001
The parasitology Section met 9-12 May 2001 in conjunction with the annual
meeting of the Canadian Society of Zoologists at Laurentian University,
Sudbury, Ontario. The Parasitology Section Symposium was "Advances in
helminth neurobiology."
- Dr. Michael R. Koelle (Yale): G protein signalling in the C. elegans
nervous system.
- Dr. Timothy G. Geary (Pharmacia Animal Health): Sorting out the biology of
FMRamide-related peptides (FaRPs) in nematodes.
- Dr.Paula Ribeiro (with F. F. Hamdan and S. Hill) (McGill University):
Molecular properties of monoamine receptors in helminths.
- Dr. Joseph Dent (McGill University): The ivermectin receptors:
glutamate-gated chloride channels that mediate ivermectin sensitivity and
modulate behavior.
- Dr. Robin N. Beech (with Sean Forrester and Roger K. Prichard) (McGill
University): Ion channels and anthelmintics in parasitic nematodes.
