The parasitology Section met 2-6 May 2000 in conjunction with the annual
meeting of the Canadian Society of Zoologists at the Huntsman Marine Station,
St. Andrews, New Brunswick. The Parasitology Section Symposium was "Life
in the middle of the food web: Larval parasites in small fish."
- Dr. John Janovy (University of Nebraska- Lincoln) Keynote speaker: Sinks,
sieves, and seines: Parasites in a braided river ecosystem.
- Dr. Al Shostak (University of Alberta): Parasite induced alteration of host
everything, or "what's a poor stickleback to do?"
- Dr. David J. Marcogliese (St. Lawrence Centre, Environment Canada).
Population biology of eye flukes in the St. Lawrence River: just how important
are the gulls?
- Dr. Gary McLelland (DFO, Moncton) Natural transmission of larval sealworm,
Pseudoterranova decipiens, to juvenile Canadian plaice,
Hippoglossoides platessoides, and other small benthic consumers.
