These "follicle mites" are tiny, less than 0.4 mm long. They live within hair follicles and sebaceous glands of mammals, including humans. It is thought that most humans, worldwide, are infected with this mite; fortunately it is generally asymptomatic. Species that infect other mammals can cause serious mange.
