Rhabdias parasitic female

This stout worm, about 1 cm long, is a parasitic female. The stout, pointedend (top of photo) is the tail. At the opposite end is the rounded anterior end, with a short, clear esophagus leading to a brown intestine. The intestine in this specimen is visible the whole length of the body, on the inside of the curve. On the outside of the curve, in the posterior two-thirds of the body, is the uterus, containing a large number of developing eggs.
