These stout (1 cm long) worms have the large acetabulum located at the posterior end of the body (bottom of photo). This is termed an "amphistome" arrangement of suckers. The smaller oral sucker at the anterior end with two large oral diverticula. A long esophagus continues posteriorly until the intestine bifurcates into two ceca. Lateral to the intestinal ceca are fields of vitelline follicles. Between the ceca are two testes, in tandem, with irregular margins. Only the anterior testis is clearly visible in this specimen. The small ovary is the smaller red mass midway between the posterior testis and the acetabulum. Coils of uterus travel anteriorly from the ovary, around the two testes, to a genital pore just behind the intestinal bifurcation.
