This view of te scolex illustrates that the scolex hooks occur in an inner and outer circle. Each hook consists of a base that is attached to the scolex, ending in a blade that has two points. The recurved nature of the hooks provides for solid anchoring of the scolex to the intestinal wall of the host. Two of the four muscular suckers are also visible.
