The numerous small spheres (arrows) attached to the mesenteries of this hare intestine are cysticercus stages of the tapeworm. Each one is a fluid-filled bladder containing a single scolex. When eaten by a carnivore the scolex will evert, attach to the intestine, and begin to grow into an adult.
