Rugogaster

Instead of loculi on a ventral sucker, this aspidogastrean has a series of ventral, transverse ridges on the body, clearly visible in this photo along the entire length of the body. The mouth, at the top, is funnel shaped, and the gut bifurcates into two ceca just behind it. Just behind the intestinal bifurcation is a large cirrus pouch. There are two rows of testes, visible along the sides of the body just central to the ceca, but occasionally obscured by the black eggs within the coiled uterus. The ovary is the red ovoid body just above the most anterior portion of the uterus.
