Capillaria in situ

Adults of this species live in the liver and deposit their eggs there. This is a section of mouse liver (normal liver tissue is visible at the bottom of the photo) where large numbers of eggs have accumulated. Note that the normal structure of liver is absent in the region containing eggs. In a few of the eggs, the section is right down the middle, and shows that the eggs have polar plugs on each end, a distinctive feature of Capillaria and Trichuris (although the latter deposits its eggs into the intestinal lumen).
