CIHR Enhances Application Forms and Guidelines for Completion
CIHR has revised its application forms and Guidelines for Completion. Enhancements to application forms for the Fall 2005 competitions are as follows:

The instructions and the drop-down list for the Priority Announcements in the Research Module have been updated for the Fall 2005 competitions.
The title of the 'Responsiveness Form' has changed to 'Relevance Form', and the instructions on the form have been revised.
Text about the ResearchNet e-submission pilot project has been updated for the September 2005 Operating Grants competition.
Various other text enhancements were made to the application forms and Guidelines for Completion.

Notes:
Applicants are instructed to submit version 06/2005 of the Research Module for the Fall 2005 competitions. Only version 06/2005 will be accepted for the Fall 2005 competitions.
The updated Training Module will be launched by August 3, 2005. Only version 07/2005 will be accepted for the Fall 2005 competitions.

CIHR Announces Research Resource Grant Program
This is the inaugural competition of the Research Resource Grant Program. This program is a consolidation of the following programs that have been discontinued: Multi-User Equipment and Facilities Grants (Acquisition and Maintenance) Grants, Equipment and Maintenance Grants and some of the Group grants. Online Funding Guide Launched
The National Research Council in collaboration with other agencies, has launched Funding Guide for International Science and Technology Cooperation, an online funding guide for international cooperation. The guide is divided into three sections: 1) Grants and bursaries that provide support for collaborative research projects, visits from a few weeks up to one year, workshops/seminars/conferences, travel support; 2) Postdoctoral fellowships that can be undertaken either in Canada or in a foreign organization; 3) Major international prizes for which Canadian researchers may apply. To All Graduate Students Applying for Research Funding
Please remember that it is YOUR responsibility to submit your application to the funding agency once all University of Alberta signatures have been obtained. Please DO NOT submit your application to the department and then be unavailable (e.g. do not leave town and assume that the department will forward your application to the funding agency).

NSERC Extends International Polar Year Deadline
The deadline for the submission of proposals in support of International Polar Year (IPY) projects has been extended to November 28, 2005, as a result of the recent federal announcement of furether funding to support Canada's participation in IPY.
