Open to Canadian and American citizens - various awards including:
Traditional Fulbright Scholar Awards - offers grants of 4 - 9 months to Canadian and American scholars, post-doctoral researchers and experienced professionals to conduct research and/or teach at a host institution in the U.S. or Canada, respectively. Offers opportunity to explore contemporary issues (including ecology and the environment among others) relevant to Canada and the US and the relationship between the two countries. All award recipients must be affiliated with an institution of the host country and responsible for securing such affiliation. Deadline of November 15 for Canadians
Canada-U.S. Fulbright Visiting Research Chairs Program - enable promising and prominent Canadian and American scholars, as well as experienced professionals to conduct research, develop collaborations and guest lecture at select American and Canadian universities. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to deliver public lectures, give seminar presentations, participate in conferences and otherwise contribute to ongoing research activities at the host institution. Deadline of November 15 for Canadians.
The program most applicable to Biological Science is for a Visiting Research Chair at National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis Research Chair in Applied & Fundamental Ecology (University of California, Santa Barbara). Potential fields of research include: Fundamental ecology, Applied ecology, Mathematical modeling, Dynamics simulation, Visualization of ecological systems, digital mapping of complex ecological phenomena. Award is $25,000 U.S. for one or two semesters.
NSERC DISCOVERY AND RTI APPLICATIONS -- ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS
For those of you who are applying to NSERC this fall and plan to submit your application electronically, please note that the University of Alberta has internal procedures, which must be followed in order for Research Services Office to electronically approve your application. RSO must see a complete paper copy of your application with signatures of 1) PI, PI's chair and PI's dean; 2) co-applicant and co-applicant’s organization (co-applicant's chair and dean if the co-applicant is from U of A) before they will send electronic approval. For co-applicants from organizations other than the U of A, RSO will accept faxed signatures. Please submit a paper copy of your application to Peggy Poholko in CW405 by department deadlines.
