Current Research interests

Neural cell biology pertaining to the central nervous system (CNS), particularly the characterization of astrocytes and the regulation of their proliferation and transformation into reactive astrocytes. The latter appear in the CNS following injury or in diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis. The emphasis is on the relationship of the cytoskeleton to changes in cell shape, cytoplasmic organization, differentiation, and extracellular matrix.
