Academic degrees

Area of Research and Teaching

My primary area is in : Molecular Biology and Genetics

The U. of A. Department of Biological Sciences is divided into six major "Research Interest Groups" (RIGs). These are:
- Molecular Biology and Genetics
- Systematics and Evolution
- Ecology and Environmental Biology
- Microbiology and Biotechnology
- Physiology and Cell Biology
- Plant Biology

These groups are the academic basis for the Undergraduate and Graduate teaching programs as well as the major areas of research within the Department. This type of division is needed since the Department is very large. It has ~70 faculty, ~250 graduate students and hundreds of undergraduate "Honours and Specialization Students".
