QUAESTIONES ENTOMOLOGICAE
Publication of Quaestiones Entomologicae was
started in 1965 as part of a memorial project for Professor E.H.
Strickland, the founder of the Department of Entomology at the
University of Alberta in 1922. It was intended to provide prompt
relatively low-cost publication for comprehensive accounts of
entomological research of greater than average length. However,
shorter papers about insects in the Prairie Provinces of Canada
were also encouraged. The founding editor, Professor Brian
Hocking, served until 1974. Professor George Ball carried on as
editor until Quaest Ent, as it was fondly known, was discontinued
in 1990 during a period of severe budget cuts.
Articles published in Quaest Ent have had a remarkably durable
impact, particularly in insect systematics, and we have continued
to receive regular requests for reprints. No copies remain of 19 numbers
(3:3, 6:1, 7:1, 9:4, 11:3, 12:1, 12:4, 13:4, 15:1, 16:1/2,
18:1/4, 19:1/2, 19:3/4, 21:4, 22:3, 23:1, 25:3, 26:2 and 26:3) marked NO COPIES LEFT; the remaining 75
back issues of Quaest Ent are
still available as single issues or as almost complete sets. Upon
request, single issues are distributed free of charge and almost complete sets
are available for the cost of shipping (approximately: $100.00
within Canada; $150.00 (Cdn) to the United States; and $400.00 (Cdn)
for overseas). The full table of contents is listed below, with
issues indicated for each volume.
Issues or almost complete sets may be obtained by
contacting Danny Shpeley at dshpeley@ualberta.ca. Please give your surface mail address and indicate
which issue(s) you would like.
Kipling Will at the University of Califonria Berkeley scanned the entire contents (except issues: 1971 7:1; 1973 9:4: and 1989 25:2) of Quaest Ent and converted them to searchable .pdf's. Contact Danny Shpeley at dshpeley@ualberta.ca if you would like to receive a .pdf of a particular issue.
