GENET 301, Organization of Simple Genomes
*3 (fi 6) (first term, 3-0-0). Organization of Simple Genomes.
Two models of simple genomes will be examined. One model will focus on the function and transmission of mitochondrial DNA, the evolution of mitochondria, and the role of mitochondria in human disease and aging. The other model will focus on the application of genomics, molecular biology, and cell biology to understand chromosome structure, DNA replication, cell division, and cell-cell communication in yeast. Prerequisite: GENET 270.
