BOT 350, Plant Biochemistry


*3 (fi 6) (first term, 3-0-0). Plant Biochemistry. 
Introduction to biochemistry of higher plants. Emphasis on plant-specific metabolic processes, and their regulation and molecular biology. Topics include structural and storage carbohydrates, lipid metabolism, nitrogen fixation and assimilation, photosynthetic processes, and secondary plant metabolites and their ecological functions. Prerequisites: BIOCH 200 or BIOCH 203 or 220. BOT 205 recommended. May not be taken for credit if credit already obtained in BOT 250.
