Each species is provided with a detailed morphological description, a distribution map, notes on taxonomy, distribution, ecology and indigenous knowledge. The text is complemented by an extensive bibliography. Characters useful for identification are defined and illustrated. More than 3,000 colour photographs and line drawings illustrate the habitat, habit, flowers and distinguishing characters of each species.
