Database
of Entomologists
Introduction
This list of personnel is a source of readily
available information on individuals interested in the systematics and faunistics of the terrestrial
arthropods of Canada. Consequently it excludes many workers in other fields of entomology. Each entry
indicates name, position, contact information; taxa and/ or ecological groups of interest; primary
subjects of taxonomic interest, primary ecological approaches, and current projects. Information is
transcribed in either English or French, as used by each respondent.
The database is updated on a regular basis. The
Survey Secretariat welcomes updates and additions for the database. A online form is available for
this purpose.
Source of Data
Data here were
obtained chiefly through email and letter enquiries sent during 2008 (and prior to that in 2003,
updating a 1996 edition published in paper format). Recipients were
mainly Canadian members of the Entomological Society of Canada and U.S.
members from the northern tier of states, certain amateur entomologists,
and specialists on lists prepared by other organizations. Enquiries to
individual entomologists requested information on interests by taxonomic
or ecological group, and on current projects. Entries in this list are
based chiefly on replies to those enquiries. Returns are included even
for those respondents with limited interests in systematics and
faunistics. A few other individuals for whom some information on
interests is available are also listed. The database on this website is
updated on a regular basis as information becomes available.
